The Florence International Film Festival was a great success this second year! First of all the Tuscan Film Commission was wonderful! They got us great press and helped transform the Odeon Theatre into an elegant restaurant with the red carpet glamour of Cannes. They also put up with our passionate students, energetic actors, endless rehearsals a major Hollywood style casting calls and thanks to Lisa, permission to actually film in Palazzo Vecchio. Also thanks to Alessandro Ricoli who aided his wonderful artistic touch and medieval costumes!

The food was excellent and endless. We actually had to call the crowds back into the theatre to see the movies.

We had two film shorts filmed here in Florence which was grand not only because the quality was exceptional for being on a limited budget but it really created a community spirit and the promise of more great films filmed in our fabulous Tuscan environment with a story at every turn to be shown in future festivals.

Our film “The Prince” was the untold history of Lorenzo Il Magnifico and another local film maker scored big with her comedy on caffeine addiction, Charlie Chaplin style.

We also had a terrific selection of international films and started the entire program off with a tribute to Meucci (the inventor of the telephone) by the famous director Carlo U. Quinterio who was great fun sharing with us his clips and stories from old Hollywood and cine cittá. Michael Lies a director for one of the international selection came all the way from USA to share this moment with us and world premiere his Film Short, Experyment6.
