The objective of this syllabus is to teach in parallel both the creative and technical sides to film making. We believe it is essential that in the highly competitive world of film production, our student’s films demonstrate both an original creative vision and technical professionalism. FLORENCE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL INTERNSHIP Students interning in this event will have the opportunity to work directly with the marketing and distribution aspects of film making. International students that qualify will have the opportunity to premier their films, attend gala parties and participate in our unique Teaching and Learning Conferences with professional film makers from all over the world! Program Benefits Students will have the unique opportunity to experience the Festival as an “insider” interning behind the scenes in our international Film Festival. Festival accreditation—giving possibility to view all the films selections. Optional work study assignments with international marketing and PR professionals Workshops and panels with film industry professionals Intimate roundtable discussions End of program networking party Educational programming and special events available only to Program participants Students attending the spring semester will have an opportunity to take their film shorts to the Cannes Film Short Corner. Students will then learn the craft of good story structure taken from Jungian archetypes, myths, fables and the past literary masters who have carved our current concepts of literature. Students will learn to utilize both hemispheres of the brain in a nurturing, supportive and creative environment as they learn the secrets of Joseph Campbell’s Mythic Story Structure and then break the rules to create something highly original and unique.
Students will also explore and work with new creative writing vehicles such a creating live interactive events, creating performance art and utilizing the evolving documentary formats. Within the Writer’s workshop are a series of Infinite Human Workshops which is a magnificent Journey into your limitless potential. We are designed to be a reflection of the Infinite! Film Production Workshop
STUDENT PROJECTS Students will complete a number of independent and collaborative films and multi media projects during the program. Students in the graduate program as will also complete their own independent thesis project approved by the staff. Our production company Infinite Human Productions produces and promotes student films that have been green lighted for our professional production track. Film Distribution Avenues: Unlike many Film and Performance schools The Florence Film School is committed to helping our students find and achieve success upon graduation. We give our students opportunities during their studies to intern with professional production companies here in Italy and Intern on Films shoot on location. Students have the opportunity to premiere their films The Florence International Film Festival and intern the international film festival hosted here in Florence . They have the opportunity to rub shoulders with film producers, acquisition agents and other professionals in the film industry forming invaluable contacts.
Cannes Film Festival Students also have the possibility of attending and/or interning at The Cannes Film Festival and having their film shorts premiered at The Short Film Corner in the Cannes Film Festival. They will have the opportunity to attend parties and happy hours with other film makers, pitch their latest film projects to professional production companies and enter into competitions. PROFESSIONAL ITALIAN CLASSES Non EU Students who do not speak Italian and need visas are required to take our professional Italian course. HOUSING AND EXPENSES Apartments in the center of Florence can be arranged for the cost of 550 euro per month for a private room in an apartment shared with other students. All housing is within walking distance to the school. Food is inexpensive and students will be provided with museum passes to all major museums. ADMISSIONS Students must be proficient in the English Language. Students must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or the equivalent from their country. Visa Policy Stundents who are not part of the EU must obtain their visas through our afflitalte language school by taking the require number of credits.We request that all students applying for visas must be pre approved for their student visa by visiting in person their nearest Italian counsel and confirming that if they present the proper documentation that they will be awarded a student visa. After receiving this guarantee from the Italian Consul in your country and having paid all tuition fees in full we will provide the necessary documentation for you to receive a student visa. However if you inform us that you have received this guarantee from the Italian Consul in your country and after providing all the necessary documentation you are not granted a visa we will deny refunding the tuition paid. This is to ensure that we receive only serious applicants and do not waste your time or ours. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. Notification All films made at the Florence Film School become the property of Florence Film School, unless a signed contract is made between the student and the Director of Florence Film School. Students are held accountable for any damage they make on the property of Florence Film School and the Tuscan Film Commission. Reasons for dismissal Unless you are registered in our distance learning program, there is mandatory attendance. Lack of attendance, lack of completion of assignments or any disruptive or behavior, inappropriate or negative behavior in the classroom or in the surroundings of the City of Florence the student will be expelled from the program. The school is not responsible for students actions. Doctors prescription is necessary if students miss more than a week of class. If the Florence International Film School does not receive tuition payment from the student before deadline given, they are suspended from any school activity and classes until payment is provided. All students who attend the Florence International Film School need to pass their exams with at least a C in order to get their degree. We expect the student to keep constructive teamwork and positive attitude toward the professors and schoolmates. If any of these conditions are violated, the student might be dismissed from the program. Refund Policy All sales are final- absolutely no refunds.

Drawing Painting and Sculpture
Course 101 - Screenplay Writing This class is conducted by a professional screenplay writers and authors. Students will leave the class with a perfected Pitch, and a completed Professional Short Screenplay or Documentary Script or a Treatment for a Feature length Screenplay. Student will also learn to recognize their own unique way of putting words and images together. All completed Screenplay shorts will be reviewed by our production company Infinite Human Productions for consideration.
Course 102 - Cinematography and Lighting Under the guidance of a professional Award Winning Cinematographers students will have the opportunity to develop their own inner artistic eye. They will learn the basics involved in motivating the frames by story using composition ,color line, symbolic representation, and creating mood and tone through lighting. Students will see film clips by diverse directors and have the opportunity to analysis them and extract elements they would like to incorporate into their own style.
Course 103 - Professional Digital Video Production This course lasts two months. Students will be introduces to the fast changing choices and possibilities now available in digital film production. Students will learn how to choose the best cameras and equipment and make cost effective choices for creating their own low budget professionally executed films. They will learn how to achieve the highest professional level for the lowest cost. Then Students will through hands on exercises and have the opportunity to work with state of the art equipment learning how to conduct interviews, capture motion, record sound and work in various filming modalities. Students will have the opportunity to shoot with state of the art video cameras and analysis their raw footage in class.
Course 104 - Professional Editing and Sound Design This Course covers both the technical and aesthetic aspects of editing. Understanding Story telling techniques and the basics of dramaturgy is key in furthering the creative vision of the director. Technical skills will be taught using the language of film and the organization of raw footage and sound material. Students will learn the concept of joining powerful images together in a succinct fashion to tell their story in a fresh and original manner. Students will learn how to use non-linear soft ware final cut pro on Mac computers emphasizing the Art and Craft of creating cogent sequences that serve the story. Students will also learn how to use transitions, sequence motions and special effects motivated by story, theme and metaphor.
Course 105 - Film Marketing and distribution Using a unique approach to Creative Marketing this class will teach the ins and outs traditional film markets and give film makers a head start in how to get into the new global markets that are now opening . Students will learn of the best markets and distribution avenues for their films. They will learn which are the best opportunities for funding, distribution, and how to choose the best Film Festivals for their films.

workshop 108 - Acting and Directing for the Camera This class is taught by professional Directors and Performing Artists. Its unique focus is to bring Actors and Directors together to learn how to analysis and break down Scripts, block and rehearse scenes, find their marks and deliver their highest performances in front of the camera. Students will have the opportunity to perform on both sides of the camera to gain a better understanding of the creative process and the collaborative efforts involved in intuitive acting and directing. Students will write, direct and perform a short personal monologue which will be filmed and used as part of their professional portfolio or as an audition piece. These audition pieces will also be put into our data based to be used for casting in Student Films, Theatre Companies and Professional Films that are shot on location here in Florence . While the workshop is very challenging we also create a nurturing, safe and creatively free environment where actors can experiment and play!
