The Florence International Film Festival


Thanks to all who shared with us this special moment of the Florence International Film Festival, that was held at the Odeon Theatre November 12th. Special Thanks to Michael Lies who came all the way from the United States to be a part of our Festival and World Premiere his film"Experyment 6".

Special Thanks to our sponsors and to Carlo U. Quinterio who honored us with his new short film about Meucci the Inventor of the telephone. We would like to thank the staff of Odeon for all their work for the festival and kind help.

This was the second festival of Florence International Film Festival and we are so glad to be a part of the 50 days of Cinema.

The winner of this years festival was a student film from Canada, "Patient" The Directors name is Daniel Clements and we hope to see more of his excellent work in the future.




The Florence Film School in affiliation with The Tuscan Film Commission and Media partners with The English Yellow Pages and The Florentine Newspaper will sponsor The Florence International Film Festival.

The mission of The Florence International Film Festival is to inspire, educate and promote film makers who have a positive vision for our planet. Within the frame work of our Festival we provide teaching and learning forums where experienced film makers can come together with future film makers to impart wisdom and influence the evolution of film and the new media world. Our goal is to merge the divine aspect of the human with technological advancements to create infinite creative possibilities in the future of film, entertainment, education and communications.


This year the festival has chosen the theme of the perception of reality.

The festival will take place on the 12th of November, 2009 at the Odeon Theatre.


6 pm -  Our guest speaker this year is Carlo U. Quinterio a Director and Producer.

He has worked with such films as "Night Train To Venice" and "A Room with a view".

He will be showing his Docu-drama (15 minutes) about Antonio Meucci the inventor of the telephone. Then he will talk about Film making from the telephone to the internet.

4 Euros - Discount Ticket (applicable to students, etc)


All tickets include the apertivo that will be served at the festival and are valid for viewing the entire selection of films shown in the duration of the film festival.

 



Film Festival Submissions

The Florence International Student Film Festival hosted in Florence, Italy on November 12th, 2009

Requirements:

Film Short only accepted shot on a digital format at least one minute in length  and no more than thirty minutes of running time.

Films must have been completed no sooner than January 1, 2008

If you are submitting your film as a student film it must have been created while the student is enrolled in a film school or recognized film course.


Submission Fees

Submission Fee before October 31st: 25 Euros

Submission Fee after October 31st: 30 Euros

THE FLORENCE INTERNATIONAL 

FILM FESTIVAL INTERNSHIP

The Florence Film School working together with The Tuscan Film Commission will  provide an exceptional opportunity for students to  intern during the  50 Days of Cinema Festival, hosted here in

Florence, Italy.  




Professional Film Production Internship


This is an opportunity for international students to apprentice with Professional Production Companies here in
Italy working under the guidance of Professional Film Makers. Students will learn every aspect of Professional Digital Film Production by working directly in the business.

Students will help create professional working scripts, story boards; digital videos shot on location here in
Italy and then professionally edit their projects using the latest techniques in editing, motion graphics and animation. Students will be directly supervised and mentors by professionals.

Film Festival Internship Benefits:

Students interning in the film festival will have the opportunity to premier their films shot around Florence in our Impressions of Florence section.

Students will have the unique opportunity to experience the Festival as an “insider” interning behind the scenes in major film festivals from around the world during the 50 days of cinema.

Teaching and Learning Forums with a panel of experienced film makers,  actors,  directors and producers addressing the Future of Film Making.
